Neck Lift in NYC
Refine Your Neckline. Reveal Your Confidence.
Here at Murray Hill Plastic Surgery, we specialize in neck lift surgery to restore a sharp, youthful contour to your neck. The neck often shows age first; think sagging skin, extra fullness under the chin, or those vertical bands that throw off the balance of your whole face. Modern techniques let us fix these issues beautifully to give you a smoother, more elegant neck that looks naturally in harmony with the rest of your features.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. M. Zakir Sabry has years of experience focused on facial procedures and tailors every neck lift to the individual patient. He takes the time to understand your specific concerns and anatomy, so the results look completely natural rather than tight or “pulled.” We prioritize a smooth recovery, too, so you can get back to feeling confident as quickly as possible.

What Is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the neck and jawline, giving you a smoother, more defined, and youthful look. Dr. Sabry carefully removes excess skin, tightens the underlying platysma muscle, and often includes liposuction to get rid of stubborn fat deposits. The results in a clean, contoured neck that balances beautifully with your face. He will perform a deep plane neck lift when appropriate.
Patients often tell us they’re tired of dealing with loose skin under the chin, a double chin that won’t budge, or that “turkey neck” wattle that makes them look older than they feel. They’ve tried the creams, the lasers, the threads, which may help a bit, but they don’t fix anything permanently. That’s when a neck lift becomes a real gamechanger.
No two necks are exactly alike, so Dr. Sabry customizes everything. Most of the time, he makes just a few small incisions tucked behind the ears and a tiny one under the chin where nobody notices. This incision should heal nicely, leave barely any trace, and give you a result that looks like you, just refreshed and natural.
Neck Lift Techniques
At Murray Hill Plastic Surgery, we offer several neck lift techniques. Depending on where the incision is made and whether the underlying neck muscles are tightened, fat is removed, and skin is repositioned.
these may include:
- Cervicoplasty (Skin-Only Neck Lift)
A cervicoplasty focuses on removing excess skin without addressing the underlying muscles. This cosmetic surgery is ideal for patients with sagging or loose neck skin but little muscle banding. Our surgeon places incisions behind the ears and under the chin. It allows for inconspicuous scars while improving skin elasticity and tightness. - Platysmaplasty (Muscle-Tightening Neck Lift)
Patients who have an apparent neck banding or muscle laxity are perfect candidates for platysmaplasty. During the procedure, the platysma muscle is tightened using internal sutures to flatten prominent vertical bands. It is often combined with cervicoplasty for more dramatic and longer-lasting neck rejuvenation. Dr. Sabry places incisions behind the ears and under the chin, ensuring a well-hidden scar. - Deep Plane Neck Lift
A deep plane neck lift is the most comprehensive treatment for extreme skin sagging, muscle looseness, and excess fat. Unlike conventional neck lifts, this technique repositions deeper layers of tissue for a more thorough and longer-lasting result. The procedure is generally reserved for older patients who desire dramatic correction of jowling and neck looseness.
Neck lifts can be performed as a standalone procedure but are most often combined with a facelift. A more comprehensive rejuvenation may entail eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and brow lift at the same time.

What Happens During a Neck Lift Consultation?
Your consultation is always conducted directly with Dr. Sabry, not delegated to another provider. These visits are relaxed, unhurried, and designed to ensure you feel fully informed and comfortable with your decision.
During your consultation, we will:
- Discuss your concerns and aesthetic goals
- Examine skin quality, muscle tone, and neck structure
- Determine whether a neck lift is appropriate or if less invasive options may be effective
- Review surgical techniques and expected outcomes
- Answer all questions thoroughly and honestly
Dr. Sabry often meets with patients more than once before surgery to ensure expectations are aligned and that the plan truly makes sense for you. During your consultation, we will also discuss cost. We have financing options to help you achieve your goal. You may get your eligibility checked while you are in the office.
What Is Dr. Sabry’s Approach to Neck Lift Surgery?
Dr. M. Zakir Sabry approaches neck lift surgery with precision, restraint, and careful attention to detail. His philosophy is rooted in problem-solving and customization rather than following a rigid formula. Every neck ages differently, and every patient requires an individualized approach.
Depending on your needs, neck lift surgery may involve tightening underlying neck muscles, removing or redistributing excess fat, and excising loose skin to restore a cleaner, more youthful contour. When appropriate, Dr. Sabry may use adjunct technologies to enhance results while maintaining a natural appearance.
His background in reconstructive and craniofacial surgery provides a strong foundation for managing deeper anatomical structures and achieving stable, long-lasting outcomes.
What to Expect on Your Neck Lift Surgery Day?
Neck lift surgery is performed in our QUAD-A accredited operating room located within the practice. On the day of surgery, you’ll arrive early, meet with anesthesia staff, and review final details to ensure safety and comfort.
Most neck lift procedures are performed under general anesthesia. After surgery, you’ll recover in our office under the care of a PACU nurse and be discharged the same day with an escort once you are stable and comfortable.
What Is the Recovery After a Neck Lift Surgery in NYC?
Recovery after a neck lift varies based on the extent of surgery and whether additional procedures are performed. Most patients experience swelling, bruising, and tightness in the early phase of healing, which gradually improves over time.
You can expect:
- Close postoperative monitoring
- A call from Dr. Sabry the evening of surgery
- Follow-up contact from our staff the next day
- Scheduled in-office visits to monitor healing
Most patients return to non-strenuous activities within 1 to 2 weeks, with full activity restrictions discussed during your consultation.

Neck Lift Surgery in New York City - FAQs
What kinds of issues does a neck lift fix?
Neck lift surgery helps with sagging or loose skin, those vertical muscle bands, extra fat under the chin, and a jawline that’s lost its sharpness.
Will my neck lift look natural?
Absolutely. Dr. Sabry takes a subtle, conservative approach; he’s all about bringing back your natural contour without pulling things too tight or making it look “done.”
Can you have a neck lift by itself, or does it need to be combined with other surgeries?
Either way works. Plenty of patients do just the neck lift if that’s their main concern, but we often combine it with a facelift or other procedures if you want to address the whole face.
How long is the actual surgery?
The duration of neck lift surgery depends on exactly what we’re doing, but plan on a few hours. It’s usually done under general anesthesia for your comfort.
Is recovery really painful?
Most people say it’s tighter and more uncomfortable than outright painful. We prescribe medication that keeps things very manageable, and you will also be educated on the best recovery practices.
When can I go back to work?
Many patients are back at desk jobs or light work in 1 to 2 weeks. It really comes down to how you heal and what your job involves. Thankfully, the recovery from a neck lift is well-managed with pain medications and instructions.
Do neck lift results last forever?
Neck lift results are long-lasting, but the aging process doesn’t stop completely. The neck will continue to change gradually over time.
Am I a good candidate for cosmetic neck surgery?
If loose skin, bands, or a blurry jawline bother you when you look in the mirror, chances are you’d be a strong candidate. The best way to know for sure is to come in for a consultation so Dr. Sabry can evaluate you in person.
